In Windows, I’m used to the file manager saving the way I’ve last viewed a folder, unfortunately Ubuntu doesn’t do that by default. Luckily, I’ve found out that there is a quick and simple way to change the default behavior and view of the Ubuntu file manager (called ‘Files’ as official name).

  1. In Ubuntu, open the file manager, ‘Files’
  2. On the menu bar, go to Edit->Preferences
  3. In the ‘Files Preferences’ window that pops up, the Views tab allows for changing the default view type and zoom level.

I like the information density (and orderliness) of having list view and default zoom level at 33%. :)
